Last weekend I was asked to do a maternity shoot for Clare who is now 36 weeks pregnant.  In set up my mobile studio in Clare's living room and was able to capture the full range of images that she was after.  We started off getting some photos of her and her partner Tom before moving onto some individual maternity shots.

Before the shoot, Clare told me that her 'colour' was red, so I was able to source some lovely red voile that we could incorporate into the shoot for several different looks and poses.

The shoot itself lasted around an hour and a half and we were able to use a couple of differnet backdrops during the session to get a mix of photos.

You can see a selection of the images that Clare has kindly agreed that I can show my readers after the break below - just a note, there are some shots of implied nudity so don't look if you don't want to see them or are easily offended.

Today I had a brilliant location maternity shoot with Sarah up in Staffordshire.  We were able to make the most of a great location (a local nature reserve) which had lots of different spots to shoot in.  All the locations were within a short stroll of each other and led to a great variety of images.  We were fortunate enough to have a wonderful, sunny spring day to shoot on - hopefully a sign of the year we'll have!

Sarah is due to have her baby on Wednesday - just 2 days after our shoot, so it just goes to show that it's never too late to have a maternity shoot if it is something you are considering!  I photographed Sarah's first pregnancy just over 6 years ago and it was great to be able to capture this one too (just in the nick of time!).

Earlier this year I photographed Shannon from Luton, Bedfordshire for her maternity photo shoot after she had contacted me via my Bump2Baby Portraits website.  Her new baby boy made an appearance a month or so later and I was asked back to take his new born photos.  All of the images you see in my post have kindly been personally approved for inclusion by Shannon herself.

For the new born session I photographed, I was able to use my collapsible studio backdrop and lights in their living room which gave us enough space to capture the shots we were after.  I used a couple of different backdrop options so we got a great mixture of shots.

We started with some shots just of Shannon’s baby boy.  Here are a couple of the images we captured:

I love capturing the little details of new borns like their tiny, perfectly formed feet and toes.

I then got some shots of the proud new mum and her baby boy.

I was delighted to hear that her baby boy safely arrived and is now home and doing well.  I was able to visit the
family again a couple of months ago to photograph a newborn session with them and it was really enjoyable - I'll post a selection of images from that session in a future post soon.

I'm delighted to announce that one of my portraits has led to me retaining a trophy for the third year in a row at my local photographic society in the annual 'People/Person' set subject competition.  This image scored a maximum 20 out of 20 and helped secure my win.

The shot was of a father and his 6 week old baby girl and is one of my personal favourites as I feel it shows the amazing connection between the two subjects.  I call the image ' Unconditional Love' which says it all I feel.

I just wanted to share with you a few images taken during a recent newborn photoshoot. 

Baby Grace was only 10 days old and was very well behaved for her first photoshoot along with her proud sister (and parents)!

I have previously photographed the family on several occasions, most recently for a location based family photoshoot in the autumn colours of one of the local parks.  I was delighted to be asked to photograph their gorgeous newborn girl as their family continues to grow.

All the photos you see here were taken at the client's home where I set up my portable studio.  This meant that everything was close to hand for the mother and new baby.

I work to ensure that I capture the photos that the family are after in order to provide them with lasting memories of this special time in their lives.

Whilst I was out and about this week I spotted the item of maternity wear shown in the photo to the left.

It certainly brought a smile to my face and took me back to the day of our daughter's birth, almost three years ago now.

Following on from Laura's maternity photo shoot back in August, I was delighted to hear that her baby girl, who is called Miley, was born a few weeks ago and is now home and doing well.

We had arranged for a newborn baby photo shoot in October and the images below were taken during that session.

The Watford branch of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is holding one of it's bi-annual 'Nearly New Sales' on Saturday 10th November and one of the raffle prizes available will be a photoshoot with Bump2Baby Portraits.


The winner will be able to choose either a pregnancy or baby photo shoot which will include a 10x8 inch print of the winner's choice from the session.


Do go along and support the NCT Nearly New Sale as it is a great way to get a variety of quality baby and toddler products and clothing at a fraction of their original cost.

The sale is being held at Rudolf Steiner School in Kings Langley on Saturday 10th November between 11am and 1pm.

I was contacted by Lisa from Kensworth in Bedfordshire a few of months ago via Bump2Baby Portraits enquiring about having a pregnancy photo shoot around her 36th week of her pregnancy.  We discussed what Lisa wanted to achieve from the shoot and I provided her with some idea tear sheets and we settled on last Saturday for the shoot.  All of the images you see here have been personally approved for inclusion in this post by Lisa herself – client confidentiality is always paramount to me.

After arriving at her home, I had a chat with Lisa and her partner about the type of images she would like me to capture and we identified quite a few from the tear sheets that she would like to try.

I was able to set up my portable studio backdrop and lights in her dining room which would give us enough space to capture the shots we were after.  I usually bring a couple of different backdrop options with me so that I can set up in pretty much any available space – though ideally, the more room available, the better!
